For this comparison, we’re specifically comparing the Q3 to the GLA 250 4MATIC, since all-wheel drive is standard on the Q3 but not the GLA. The two are incredibly close in price, nearly identical, but you aren’t getting quite the same thing for your money. The Q3 is more powerful than the GLA, and even if it doesn’t look like a big difference, the 0-60 times tell a different story. The GLA is more than a second slower to 60, which is a huge difference when it comes to 0-60 times. So the Q3 is both more powerful and makes better use of that power, as further evidenced by the fact that you can tow with the Q3, but the GLA isn’t rated for it. And if you’re thinking that you’ll carry cargo in the vehicle, behind the second row of seats, well, you can carry a lot more in the Q3.

With such similar pricing, you’d probably expect similar levels of equipment, but that’s not true, and to an almost shocking level. To start with, you get a nicer stereo in the Q3, with noticeably more speakers. Heated front seats, leather upholstery, and integrated navigation all come standard on the Q3, but all of those will cost you extra on the GLA, making the price not so close after all. Lastly, Audi throws in three years or 30,000 miles of routine maintenance along with the purchase price, easily beating the Mercedes-Benz GLA which offers no routine maintenance with purchase.
