2026 Q5 vs. 2026 Q5 Sportback Comparison

Audi makes two different versions of the popular Q5 SUV. The first is the standard Q5, which is a traditional and highly functional SUV design. And the second is the Q5 Sportback, which features a sloping roofline for a more coupe-like profile. The two designs have more in common than there is to set them apart, but there are still some differences that you should know if you’re trying to choose between them. That’s why we put together this guide.

Audi Q5 VS Q5 Sportback - Dimensions

Obviously, the two versions of the Q5 have different styling for the bodywork, but the difference in dimensions adds up to less than you might expect. With many of the competing SUVs that feature sloping rooflines, there is a reduction in rear headroom, but that isn’t the case with the Q5 Sportback. In fact, the Sportback has very slightly more headroom in the back, while it’s the front where the standard Q5 has a bit more. The only really noticeable difference between the two is cargo space. The vast majority of the time, this won’t be noticeable either, as things like groceries or a couple of suitcases will fit the same in both. Nonetheless, there is a difference in capacity, and larger items are where you’ll notice it.

Audi Q5 VS Q5 Sportback - Aesthetics

The Q5 and Q5 Sportback come with the same engine, have the same 0-60 time, and get the same fuel economy. But there are a couple of aesthetic differences for the Premium trim of each vehicle. The Florett Silver metallic paint color is only available with the Q5, while the Daytona Gray pearl effect paint is only available with the Q5 Sportback. The 19-inch wheels that are optional for the Q5 are standard on the Q5 Sportback, with no option for the 18-inch wheels that come standard on the Q5. These are only important for the Premium trim, though; the paint and wheel options for the Premium Plus and Prestige trims are the same for both vehicles. Otherwise, the roof and front fascia design are the only real differences between these two models.
